Maintaining a clean pond is an important part of keeping your fish healthy.

Removing dirt and debris, or preventing it from entering the pond, is a great place to start. Surface skimmers collect floating leaves, debris and foam from the pond surface, helping to prevent a build up of sediment. Pond netting spans over the top of the water surface and stops leaves and other garden debris from entering the pond. Nets over the pond will also provide essential protection against herons.

When the pond is heavily polluted with sludge and sediment, a pond vacuum cleaner should then be used.
