Canadian Pondweed
Elodea Canadensis
Native to North America, this fast growing oxygenator is very efficient at absorbing nutrients. It is best suited to large and deep ponds fish ponds. If fish do not keep this under control, prune this back regularly as its fast growth may outcompete other plants and deprive fish of swimming space. Start this plant out at 30cm water depth, and sink to the deeper pond sections after a few weeks. It will grow in depths of 2m.
This plant is evergreen and will retain some stems/leaves throughout winter.
Supplied as a weighted bunch, this requires planting soon after arrival. Partially bed the thickest ends into aquatic soil and pin down where necessary to keep it from floating out. The plant will then send out roots.
The recommended depth in water is calculated as the distance between the top of the basket and the water surface. Therefore "0" would be the basket rim at the water surface.
